Fur taken off the skin, glued and twisted onto fine stainless steel wire. Fantastic
heads on barbell-eyed flies (for that Predator fly look), or use as you would
any hackle. You can now use fur on any fly, any size. This material has many,
many possibilities. Saves lots of time and no waste when compared to making
a dubbing loop. Strips have leather that closes the gap of the hook and soak
up water making some flies difficult to cast. Brushes do not have these drawbacks.
One ten inch Brush contains the fur from two 10 inch fur strips and five wraps
of a Brush can be placed in the same space as one wrap of strip. That results
in the neighborhood of 1000% more fur in these bodies versus using strips. Traditional
strip flies get skinny in the water…..these do not…..they actually
appear as bulky or even bulkier wet than they do dry. You will love the action
and profile in the water!
The Marabou Brushes are much better than hackling with blood quills. No need
to prepare the feather by pulling off the unusable fibers at the thick end of
the quill. No need to preen fibers away from the tip of the quill to prepare
a tying in point. Remember how quills wrap? One turn and the weak tip of the
quill breaks off so you can start over. With a blood quill, a few turns and
the quill gets so thick that it gets difficult to wrap. A Marabou Brush is much
more convenient than blood quills. The wire won’t break when you wrap
and is similar in diameter to the tip of a blood quill. Whether the fly calls
for just one turn of marabou, multiple colors of marabou, or getting the most
marabou on a fly that is physically possible, Marabou Brushes are the very best
way to apply marabou on any fly.
Bunny Brush – Rabbit fur taken off the skin and twisted
onto very fine wire. Fantastic substitute for any application where you would
palmer as fur strip or hackle a wet fly.
Sparkle Bunny Brush - Same as above with ice wing fibers mixed
in. Positive, yet subtle, sparkle.
Dubbing Brush - These are very convenient, save lots of time at the vise. Can be ordered with Ice Wing fibers for that little “sparkle” or without. Rabbit (same colors as with Bunny Brushes), Squirrel (same colors as with Squirrel Brushes), Mink (black, brown, white), Nutria (natural gray with brown guard hairs). Squirrel Brush - Squirrel fur taken off the skin and twisted
onto very fine wire. Use as you would a rabbit brush. Squirrel brushes have
much shorter fibers. Great for large and small flies. Makes a fantastic nymph
body that comes alive in the water. Black, Brown, Chartreuse, Olive, Rusty Orange,
Sculpin Olive.
Sparkle Squirrel Brush - Same brushes as above but with ice wing fibers mixed in. A very positive, yet subtle, sparkle. Same colors as with Squirrel Brushes.
Marabou Brush - Select grade marabou blood quills taken off
the quill and twisted onto very fine wire. The wire is smaller diameter than
the quill the marabou came off of. Superior to using blood quills for all marabou
applications. Color combinations available on request.
Sparkle Marabou Brush - Same as Marabou Brushes but with Ice
Wing Fibers incorporated into the brush. Same colors as Marabou Brushes.
